GRAEF is dedicated to serving you. Our success is reflected in your success!
The Moderne is the newest high-rise building downtown Milwaukee. The 31-story, 405,000 square foot, mixed-use tower cost approximately $75 million. GRAEF provided structural engineering, site/civil engineering, landscape architecture, and plumbing engineering services for the tower.
The building has retail on the first floor and 33 condominiums, 154 apartments and six levels of structured parking on the upper floors.
Structural engineers evaluated different structural systems using Revit Structure. Site/civil engineering work included the design of sidewalks, valet drop-off, curb replacement, decorative paving, streetscaping, and sanitary and water service to City mains.
The streetscape design compliments the contemporary design of the tower while providing unique visual interest at the ground level. A special dark grey concrete with glass grounds the building to the street and carries inside the corner restaurant allowing them to be visually treated as one. A special granite inset and raised granite planters iterate the main entrance.
