Feith Family Ozaukee County YMCA
GRAEF prepared structural, site, grading, paving, erosion control, and utility plans for a 50,000 square foot YMCA building on a 20.5 acre site. This family-friendly YMCA facility is attracting interest from YMCA’s across the country. The facility is a gathering spot for families and youth which includes an 8,000 square foot aquatic center, full size gym, Family Prime Time Center, fitness center, locker rooms, rock climbing wall, Kids Care babysitting area, and central gathering space with a café and concessions area.
Site issues were very important because of the presence of multiple wetlands and poor soils on-site. The location and shape of the proposed building and parking lots had to configure to minimize the effect on wetlands and provide a good working base and drainage.
As part of the utility design, water main and sanitary sewer were extended from existing Village of Saukville utilities to the site and building. A storm sewer collection system was designed to convey run-off from the building and parking lots. Project design started in 1998 and construction was complete in 1999.
