State Street Water Main
GRAEF provided municipal design services to the City of Wauwatosa Water Utility for the installation of several water main relays including the relay of over 1-mile of 16” water main on W. State Street. The 16-inch water main functions as a transmission main from the one of two Booster stations in Wauwatosa’s east pressure zone and provides an increased fire fighting capability for future development in the area. GRAEF reviewed the output characteristics of the pumps to verify they operated efficiently with the new discharge main.
State Street is a major roadway in Wauwatosa and the water main relay had to be coordinated to limit water service shutdowns of several major businesses along State. In addition, the project was closely coordinated with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewer District Menomonee River drainage project, which included several large diameter sewers crossing the proposed water main relay.
