Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, Stormwater Management Master Plan
The Milwaukee Regional Medical Center (MRMC) realized, as a result of ongoing development on the campus, that the Stormwater Management Plan prepared for the Milwaukee County Grounds in 1995 needed to be updated to address changes in development patterns and stormwater regulations. The MRMC recognized that drainage and stormwater issues needed to be readdressed so that the impacts of long-range development plans could be addressed in an orderly and regional fashion, instead of on a piecemeal basis. They also recognized that a method was needed to allocate the capacity of stormwater management facilities and to fairly assess the costs of construction, operation, and maintenance of these facilities.
GRAEF performed a variety of tasks, including field surveys to verify critical facility locations and elevations; hydrological, hydraulic, and water quality modeling; field investigations of potential stormwater pollution sources; and development of alternatives for addressing the stormwater management needs of future development. Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans were updated for each MRMC facility. Cost estimates were prepared for system improvements required for stormwater conveyance, storage, and treatment facilities, for existing, short-term, and long-term conditions.
