The Legend at Brandybrook Golf Community

GRAEF was responsible for the development of a private golf club and community on a rural, 428-acre parcel of land located within the Kettle Moraine. The master plan of the golf community included the development of a family oriented golf club that offered a championship style 18-hole golf course and amenities.

The golf course is equipped with five different tees to suit all levels of family golfers. The course ranges in length from the championship tees at nearly 7,200 yards to a dedicated junior tees measuring 4,600 yards. The private golf club also includes a full practice facility including a driving range, putting green, and a short game complex.

Additional family amenities at the club include a tennis complex, lap pool, aquatic center, pool slides, lazy river, separate adult’s and children’s hot tubs, outdoor cabana, sand volleyball, and children’s play structures suitable for all ages. This club is truly a family oriented development that will be the model of future private club development.

The development of the golf course and residential community was created with the intention of eliminating disturbance to existing forests, wetlands, and several spring-fed tributaries. During the natural resource inventory and analysis, 85 acres of wetlands were identified, cataloged, and delineated. The design of the master plan also allowed us to take advantage of the natural topography for storm water control and treatment. Storm water features included retention ponds, dry detention basins, created wetlands, infiltration swales, and level spreaders, to protect the Brandy Brook.

This development not only includes a fantastic playable destination type golf course and a wonderful residential community, it is also one of the first examples of how a golf course and community can be designed to actually enhance, preserve and improve the environment. Many government bodies are currently using this development as a model for environmentally conscious development.
