Dommerich Elementary and Maitland Middle Schools
Dommerich Elementary School and Maitland Middle School are located within an educational campus of the Orange County Public School system. As a member of the designing team for this Florida public chools project, GRAEF is providing mechanical, electrical and plumbing design services.
The school facilities consist of approximately 260,000 square feet of classroom, science lab, kitchen, cafeteria and auditorium buildings located in Maitland, Florida. The project includes 900-ton chiller plant with primary/secondary pumping system, variable air volume systems, emergency shelter HVAC and electrical system and full kitchen design.
Primary challenges involve coordination with the school schedule and the phasing plan. Other issues facing the team include a short design turnaround time, limited construction budget, emergency shelter requirements, generator back up systems, and low sound level requirements for the chiller plant.
The project is currently under construction with anticipated completion in 2010. The estimated construction budget is $40 milliion.
