Design services provided by GRAEF endeavored to incorporate sustainable design principles while maintaining a cost-effective program for the owner. GRAEF was able to meet the design challenges presented by the project: maintaining the character of the original Frank Lloyd Wright design, meeting current codes and regulations, and protecting the local environment. The owner’s representatives met these challenges in the context of an aggressive construction schedule and an exhaustive evaluation of alternative design scenarios. The result is a project worthy of national recognition for maintaining the character of the existing historic setting while incorporating emerging concepts on sustainability.
