McCleary Bridge Arterial Corridor

The 1.5 mile project encompasses a new four-lane urban alignment and includes a major bridge structure over the Big Rib River. The roadway corridor represents a principal arterial connecting the City of Wausau with the heavily commercialized area of suburban Rib Mountain. The bridge is a 1,570-foot prestressed concrete structure carrying four traffic lanes, plus a 10-foot sidewalk. The project includes the use of ornamental lighting on the bridge.

Significant traffic engineering studies were required during design work to address the signalized intersections. Right-of-way acquisition included the relocation of 27 residences and four businesses. GRAEF provided complete planning, environmental, design and right of way services for this $19 million urban project.
