Harley-Davidson Chiller Plant
GRAEF provided engineering and design services to upgrade the capacity of the cooling systems at Harley Davidson Motor Company’s corporate headquarters. The existing 200-ton water-cooled chiller, 250-ton air-cooled chiller and 1200 ton/hour ice storage system was insufficient to handle the increased load as the space had been expanded over a fifteen year period. The new system features a 300-ton air-cooled rotary chiller and 2300 ton/hour modular ice storage system. The system operates without running the chiller during peak hours and ice storage is replenished at night during off peak hours to reduce energy usage and cost.
